The Plan
Shot in a single, uninterrupted take, The Plan is a pressure-cooker thriller that morphs into a pitch-black comedy about the absurdity of idealism in a fractured world — and what happens when the people who want to change everything can’t even agree on what they’re fighting for.

DIRECTOR, WRITER, PRODUCER
A multi-hyphenate filmmaker raised in Portland, Oregon; Jessica Barr's work often explores loss and coming of age. She's known for stirring and cerebral stories - grounded in naturalism. Sophie Jones, a feature that Barr wrote, produced and starred in premiered at the 2020 Deauville Film Festival. The film screened at numerous other festivals before being acquired by Oscilloscope Laboratories with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Her short film Tight had its world premiere at SXSW in 2024 and was listed as a top 10 best film to see by Harper's Bazaar. It premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her short drama Private Moments premiered last year on Director’s Notes.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Many in my generation are disillusioned with the systems we’ve inherited. We’re angry, scared, and overwhelmed, and in the moments where rational thinking is needed most, we often instead turn toward absolutism and hatred.
The Plan is about that paralysis and what happens when fear guides action instead of hope. It reflects the frustration and helplessness many of us feel living in this country, and the people I grew up with. It’s my critique of modern liberalism. Even with common goals, progress often collapses from infighting, ego, and mistrust.
The Plan asks what it would take to truly unite, and what happens if we cannot.
